The theme of the third annual Monaco Wealth Forum is Signposts in troubled times, a reflection of the forward-looking nature of this top event.

Topics to be covered at the Monaco Wealth Forum on March 15 include: Where are we now? An examination of the international situation and its impact on wealth issues, led by alternative investment guru Christopher Cruden of Insch Capital, with Michel Santi and Caroline Garnham, both top experts in their fields; Monaco as a financial centre, with Ambassador Henri Fissore and Hugh Wade-Jones of Enness International, a company that has just established its presence in Monaco; Citizenship by Investment, with a special focus on Cyprus and the work of the Cyprus Developers’ Alliance, speaker David Petrosov, followed by a round table representing a number of the most popular jurisdictions across the world. Hakan Cortelek will represent Henley & Partners.

Following lunch at the Cafe de Paris, the Forum continues with Alternative Investments, including art, diamonds etc, with Antonio Cecere of Cecere Monaco, real estate expert Olivia Hsu Decker and Dr. Tahir Akhtar, of Adam Holdings. Security and the need for extreme vigilance will follow, led by Alistair Galloway. The last speaker of the day will be Patrick Jephson, who will address the topic of Family Offices. No-one is better qualified on this topic of central importance to wealth managers, as Patrick served as private secretary to Princess Diana and has since worked at the highest levels of consultancy on both sides of the Atlantic.

In addition to the 3-course lunch, with wine, refreshments will be served throughout the day in the Salon Bellevue. The Forum will be followed by a Champagne Reception and a whisky tasting courtesy of the Monte-Carlo Whisky Society. The informal post-Forum dinner – a great opportunity for will be at the Pacific Restaurant just 150 metres from the Salon Bellevue, from 19:30 – a great opportunity for speakers to mix with attendees and make and consolidate new contacts.  (Subject to small changes)

His Excellency Henri Fissore

The Wealth Forums are honoured to announce that His Excellency Henri Fissore has accepted our invitation to open the third Monaco Wealth Forum at the Salon Bellevue, Cafe de Paris, on March 15.

HE Henri Fissore currently serves as Ambassador with special responsibility to the Minister of State, and his brief is to recommend to the head of the Prince’s Government how better to implement the various policies in place to attract new residents and investors to the Principality. Mr Fissore liaises with the Monaco Economic Board, Monaco Private Label, the Strategic Council for Attractiveness and Government Counselors.

HE Henri Fissore has worked with the Government of Monaco since 1982 in a number of capacities, primarily in ambassadorial roles. In 2015 he was in charge of organising the very successful Year of Russia in Monaco. Married with two daughters, Mr Fissore was educated at the École supérieure des sciences économiques et commerciales and the École nationale d’administration in Paris.

David Petrosov

Illustrating the broad range of topics at the Monaco Wealth Forum on March 15, one of the main speakers will be a leading figure in the Cyprus Developers Alliance.

David Petrosov is one of the co-founders of the Alliance. He gained more than 20-year experience in international business as a co-owner of watch companies with production facilities and offices in Switzerland, Hong Kong, Moscow and Cyprus.

David holds an Executive MBA in strategic management as well as his first degree in engineering.

Together with the team at Cyprus Developers Alliance, David has recently been devoting considerable time to conveying to the target audience the full information about Cyprus and its advantages, about real estate properties, life on the island, investment opportunities and, of course, programmes for permanent residence and citizenship by investment.

Antonio Cecere

Antonio will be one of the star Monaco-based speakers at the upcoming Monaco Wealth Forum. Cecere Monaco specialises in alternative investment in colourless and fancy colour diamonds, precious gemstones, vintage watches and antique jewellery with strategic access to the supply chain and control of off-market reservoirs.

Antonio Cecere is the Founder and Vice President of Monaco Diamond Exchange. He has also served as a professor at the International University of Monaco (INSEEC). Alistair Galloway, Frontier Horizons & Endeavour Maritime

Alistair is an entrepreneur and owner of two private risk management security companies, which work across Europe, Middle East, Africa, former Soviet Union and Asia, providing due diligence, political risk analysis, physical security, cyber security and maritime security solutions for private clients and companies. Alistair previously worked in financial services in the City of London, and prior to this  Alistair served in the Household Cavalry, Life Guards, commissioning from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

Michel Santi

Distinguished author and broadcaster Michel Santi will be an important keynote speaker at the Monaco Wealth Forum on March 15.

Michel is a member of the World Economic Forum (Davos), the Institut Français des Relations Internationales and the NGO Finance Watch. Among his books are Capitalism without a Conscience, and in French: L’Europe: chroniques d’un fiasco and Splendeurs et misères du libéralisme.

In addition to his media work and publishing, Michel has been Professor of financial instruments and markets within the school for banking studies in Geneva and Professor of trading techniques within the Swiss Association of Bank Employees.

In May 2015, Michel founded Art Trading & Finance, art advisors, in Geneva.

Michel’s background and expertise in asset management is unparalleled, and he will bring this wealth of experience to the Monaco Wealth Forum.

Caroline Garnham

Garnham set up GFOS in 2015 to focus on her Culture of Care for UHNW families. ‘Wealthy people are not ATM’s, they have concerns and fears which are unique to them. At GFOS, I chose who I want to work with and I work only for clients for whom we can make a difference’.

Having been in private client practice for 35 years Garnham has more experience than most which she shares in her book ‘When you are Super Rich who can you Trust?’ Not only is she experienced and knowledgeable, she is also a pioneer and thought leader in the industry.

In 1987 Caroline wrote as a contributor on tax and trusts for the Financial Times writing ten articles a year for over 12 years; all her articles were published. ‘It was while writing these articles that I discovered the tax benefits of non doms keeping their money in offshore trusts. At this time non dom tax planning was unheard of’ she says.

She became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation for her thesis on taxation of commercial property owned by non UK doms, but decided to switch emphasis in 2001 ‘I could see that Governments would not tolerate evasion of tax’ Garnham said, ‘Avoidance and planning would also come under attack, which they have’.

Her new area of interest was ‘Family Governance’ a term she coined in 2001 as – ‘the art of keeping control of your assets while in offshore trusts’. As a pioneer in this area of law, she worked for some of the wealthiest families in the world. In 2011 Garnham proposed and drafted legislation known as the Bahamas Executive Entity (BEE) for a client which became law in late 2011 and operative in early 2012. ‘The BEE is an essential piece of kit in the tool box of a Family Governance adviser’ Garnham says.

For most of her professional life Garnham was a partner at leading city law firm Simmons & Simmons and while head of the department she brought into the firm some of its most prestigious and profitable work.

In 2015, once GFOS was set up, Garnham was able to respond to the distress the erosion of privacy was having on families and their advisers.  ‘Most families do not wish to switch advisers and advisers do not want to lose their long standing clients. Both clients and advisers came to me for solutions.’ Garnham devoted most of 2015 and 2016 putting her considerable experience to work to find solutions to help both clients and their advisers.

GFOS is currently working with people and businesses in Antigua, Bahamas, Cyprus, London, Malta, Monaco, Switzerland, The US and Uruguay to name, but a few.  ‘Given the enormity of the task, I work only with people I like, for whom I can add value and who appreciate that with a changing world things need to be done differently.’

She will only work with clients who are tax compliant. ‘GFOS is regulated by the Law Society, the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners. Everyone I work with must pay their taxes. Tax evasion in today’s world is a criminal offence and if suspected of evading tax (whether guilty or not), that person has less rights than a murderer!’

Patrick Jephson LVO MA

Olivia Hsu Decker, is co-owner of Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty

Olivia has been marketing luxury properties since 1979. She was #1 agent at Merrill Lynch Realty in United States in the 1980s. She completed an international real estate seminar at University of Oxford in 1990, founded Decker Bullock Realty in 1991 and acquired Sotheby’s franchise in 2007. Her company Decker Bullock Sotheby’s International Realty currently has 11 offices serving San Francisco Bay Area from Silicon Valley, to San Francisco, to Marin County and Napa Valley with sales over $2 billion in 2015.

Christopher L. Cruden, Insch Capital Management

Christopher L. Cruden is the founder and sole shareholder of Insch Capital Management.

His investment career began in 1979 as a gold analyst in South Africa. He subsequently worked for Dean Witter Reynolds in New York, AHL in London and Tamiso & Co LLC in New York. He established Insch in Lugano, Switzerland in 2004.

Since founding Insch he has built a dedicated team of researchers and analysts that have developed a number of highly successful, quantitative investment methodologies in FX and related markets.

Mr. Cruden is featured in the highly regarded books `Trend Following`, Covel, 2004 and `Investing with Hedge Fund Giants`, Chandler, 1998 and a number of other publications.
